Coach Tom Wilson served as Aggie head coach from 1978 -1982 and led the Aggies to an Independence Bowl victory in 1981, defeating Oklahoma State, 33-16. Wilson started his career as an assistant at his alma mater, Texas Tech University, serving as an assistant coach from 1966-1974. Wilson then made the transition to A&M serving as an assistant and stayed in that capacity until he took the head job in 1978. He and his wife Daun reside in Corsicana, Texas. They have two children (Mark and Julie) and six grandchildren.
