The Mission of The Seton Fund is to be the fund development and endowment arm of the Daughters of Charity healthcare ministry of Central Texas. The support of The Seton Fund is limited to the Seton Healthcare Network (with the exception of the Children’s Hospital of Austin and Seton Williamson County) and other institutions staffed or sponsored by the Daughters of Charity or working in collaborative support of the Daughters of Charity Healthcare mission. Its effort shall be exercised with wisdom and integrity, guided by the Vincentian spirit of respect, belief in the goodness of people, and love of the poor.

Care-A-Van, the new $200,000 rural children's mobile health van, was recently purchased through the generous support of the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation and the Highland Lakes Health Fund.

This "clinic on wheels" visits schools in Burnet and Llano counties, providing health care to children who might not otherwise have the resources to seek medical care. The van is staffed by a medical director, nurse practicioner, bilingual registered nurse and social worker. To see a schedule of schools the Rural Mobile Health Clinic will visit click here.

"Many children living in these rural areas are from low-income families and have been unable to access health care due to lack of transportation and other barriers," says Becky Fox, Director of Development at Seton Highland Lakes.

The Care-a-Van serves school children and their siblings from newborns to 18 years of age. Services range from treatment of acute conditions, such as injuries and infections, to compr ehensive well-child exams and physicals. Social services are also available to provide patients with emergency assistance, crisis intervention and case management.
